History:
Novena University Ogume,
Delta State, Nigeria was approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria at
its Executive Council Meeting of June 1, 2005. The University was issued
license to operate as a private university by the Federal Ministry of
Education and the National Universities Commission, Abuja, Nigeria on June
9, 2005. It started its first
academic session on January 4, 2006.

When the Chancellor
leading the Novena team had a pre-approval meeting with the National
Universities Commission, Abuja, Nigeria, he told the Executive Secretary of
the National Universities Commission and his team that the strength of
Novena University will be in the professions which do not exist at any of
the Nigerian Universities, and which are needed to foster anticipated
growth and development of the Nigerian economy in the twenty-first century.
TARGET
GROUPS AND PRESENT AND FUTURE PROGRAMS
Students and workers who need
various forms of training for career in Intelligence
and Security Studies, Energy and
Petroleum Studies Management and Technology, Nautical Studies, Aeronautics
and Aeronautical Science, Piloting,
Hydrographics, Transport, Logistics, Oceanography,
Maritime Law, and other related programs will be availed of the
opportunities to receive training at NOVENA from time to time. The gap
between the rapid development of the Intelligence, Security,
Energy/Petroleum, and Aviation sectors in Nigeria and its lack of
appropriately qualified staff and adequate facilities to ensure efficiency
and safety of operations, will now be filled.
The mission
of Novena University is to train and educate learners and equip them with
the skills, knowledge and competencies they need to become competitive in
the global workforce, leaders in their fields, and become successful in
graduate education.

The vision of the
University is to promote the advancement of knowledge through excellence in
scholarship, research, and training for the benefit of society .The
University by this has the vision of building a renowned institution with
strong and rigorous scholarship and training, much of which will be
directed at training local leadership in Agriculture, Natural and Applied
Sciences, Aviation, Management, Maritime Studies, Health, Energy,
Engineering, Telecommunications and Environmental fields, to ensure
adequate skills, healthy environment, and sustainable future for Nigeria
while it is continuing on its trajectory of improving the quality of life
for Nigerian citizens.
We have chosen some unique programs, considering the
environment we are located and looking at the present and future
Nigeria. Thus, we have the
following which are not in the scheme of universities.
